Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra
Intelligently interwoven compositions that go beyond familiar schemes, make you forget expectations and set new standards.
Since 2006, the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra has been revolutionizing the idea of the "large ensemble," creating a whole new musical language in the process. Its 18 members from a wide variety of nations and musical backgrounds bring fabulously wild sonic adventures to life. Live, the orchestra unfolds an explosive, extraordinary and extremely entertaining liveliness that sweeps the audience along and carries them off into complex compositions without much fuss.
The AMEO is an orchestra without a conductor: the musical program is developed by orchestra director Daniel Glatzel in close collaboration with the ensemble. The scores leave room for imagination and creative will, usually within certain frameworks, such as figurative playing instructions through sound material - such an instruction can tell individual or several instruments to follow others like a shadow. Impulses for the formulation of the music can consequently come from all.
Beginning with the premiere at Heimathafen Neukölln in February 2019, the AMEO is opening up unimagined horizons with the "New Orchestral Forms" series. The current pieces enrich the characteristic sound of the orchestra with more transparent arrangements and unconventional instrumentation. With extended playing techniques, the musicians create sound effects that otherwise come from electronic effect devices.
