In 2018, Barbara Morgenstern left behind "Innocence and Desolation" - at least that was the title of the album released that year. This was followed in January by "In anderem Licht", now the 10th longplayer in her career.

Her music is still difficult to categorize today: although her albums are now released by the Berlin indie label Staatsakt, the music is actually far too harmonically sophisticated and rhythmically complex for classic indie standards. Although Morgenstern herself enjoyed a classical jazz education in her youth, which can still be heard in her chamber music songs today, they also go far beyond the usual genre boundaries. Occasionally one is reminded of the late phase of Talk Talk. Added to this are Morgenstern's lyrics, which reflect on the social present in order to develop utopian vanishing points.
