Double concert with Marek Johnson.
The sound of the New York quartet Wrens is refreshingly different. Influenced in part by many years of experience in the jazz world, the band around singer and trumpeter Ryan Easter creates a complex and fascinating sound structure of acoustic instrumentation, electronic, sometimes noisy soundscapes and poetic rap interludes.

The mostly electronic sound of the debut album "alligator shoes [on flatbush]" is complemented with noises and melodies that play a central role in almost all the pieces on the album and sometimes have a futuristic character. However, the musical foundation on which this playfulness is based only sporadically loses its reference to the classical stylistic devices of jazz music. The way in which the spoken vocals are integrated into the already unusual concept is characterized in particular by the fact that the rapped verses are brought to the fore and thus always remain clearly understandable. This concert evening is therefore highly recommended for all jazz fans who long for musical variety and fresh impulses, fans of hip-hop and electronically produced music will also get their money's worth.
