Pipe organ and saxophone in free dialogue
In free improvisations, organist Arno Krokenberger and alto saxophonist Matti Oehl trace hidden, revealed and transient sounds. Their playful forms create music of the present and open up new spaces of interpretation. Before playing together, the two musicians only agree on the vague mood during the concert - there are no musical agreements. Trust, open ears and the ability to react quickly serve them as a basis. Krokenberger appreciates the Sauer organ in St. Michael's Church for its late romantic sound ideal and for its soft transitions. These are made possible by the organ's pneumatic action - there is an air connection under each key that sends a signal directly to the pipes. Nothing stands in the way of an unimpeded flow of ideas in real time.
