We live in paradoxical times. This is evident, for example, in the fact that the quality of music currently seems to be measured almost exclusively by its consumability.

Simon Lucaciu deliberately takes the opposite approach with his new project "Capacity Of Movements." He is not interested in the seemingly flawless surface of finished products, but rather in the processual nature that proves fundamental to his artistic practice. 

Conceptually, he delves deep into music history, combining elements of new music, electronic music, jazz, and avant-garde. He is accompanied by an international eight-piece ensemble that includes two basses, vibraphone, flute, and three pianos, among other instruments. The result is a musical dialogue that does not declare irritation and unpredictability to be undesirable byproducts of collaborative work, but rather allows itself to be guided by them.

In the past, Lucaciu has collaborated with renowned artists such as Christopher Kunz, Günter Baby Sommer, and his two brothers Antonio and Robert. With "Capacity Of Movements," the pianist, who received the Leipzig Jazz Newcomer Award in 2023, once again proves himself to be one of the most exciting voices on Leipzig's vibrant young jazz scene.
