LeipJAZZig: Bushbebe

Do you know that one acquaintance who always says, "Art is all well and good, but I don't understand jazz because it's too unmelodic, disharmonious, and generally too abstract"? Yes?
Then enlighten him and take him to Bushbebe! The Leipzig-based group, featuring pianist Linus Haagen, drummer Aline Patschke, and double bassist Leo Zweibel, came together in 2020 to indulge their shared love of stylish sunglasses and acts such as Shai Maestro, Avishai Cohen, and Brad Mehldau. Since then, they have moved dynamically and carefree, sometimes melancholic and wistful, but always entertaining, between the emotional poles of everyday life. The set includes both original compositions and selected standards from the depths of jazz history, which are sometimes barely recognizable thanks to the trio's characteristic virtuoso appropriation.
On the way home in the evening, only this thought will remain: If only all the clichés in the world were as easy to refute as in this case...
