Double concert of two top-class bands in the idyllic courtyard of the Grassi Museum.

Wherever you look and listen, rows of hearts fly to the Arne Jansen Trio! Their pieces are equally virtuosic, filigree and accessible. You don't want to know anything about genre and any boundaries that go along with it: In addition to jazz, motifs from pop, rock or folklore can be found again and again in the compositions: Exciting, tender, sophisticated and comprehensible, the unity of melody, sound image and arrangement thus succeeds. On an Africa tour for the Goethe-Institut in 2017, the Arne Jansen Trio played a concert with the legendary Senegalese Orchestra Baobab. A friendly cooperation developed that led to joint concerts in Dakar, Hannover and Jazz Baltica 2019. In addition to guitarist Arne Jansen, old (young) acquaintances have come together here: Robert Lucaciu on double bass and Eric Schaefer on drums (since the summer semester, incidentally, professor of jazz percussion at the local HMT) together with ECHO award winner Jansen provide an impressive concert experience in the idyllic courtyard of the Grassi Museum where Reza Askari's ROAR takes over afterwards.

A gruesomely cramped hand on a mocha-colored background is depicted on the debut album of the trio around Cologne bassist Reza Askari, released in 2017. One could almost think it was the cover of a punk rock band. That's not far-fetched, since Askari is still influenced by musical styles he enjoyed in his youth. ROAR is happy to live out their joy of experimentation, of switching back and forth between soundscapes. The trio likes it sunny to gloomy: Again and again conventional things are skillfully broken up and poured into new forms and structures. Here, the traditional sits down at the table with the contemporary and promises to get under your skin. In early 2020, "Magic Realism" was ROAR's second album released on the Berlin label QFTF and here it can be heard again: The harmonious, equally three-dimensional interplay of a friendly jazz trio.

The presale for this double concert will start soon.
