The jazz club and naTo are presenting a very special premiere in June: With trumpeter Richard Koch, Claudio Puntin on clarinet and double bassist Christian Weber, three top-class, internationally renowned jazz musicians have come together to form a trio that will be performing together on stage for the first time in this formation.
All three have many years of musical experience in various contexts: In recent years, Koch has appeared in particular with his solo quartet, with which he has released three critically acclaimed records since 2018 - most recently the album "Fluss" two years ago. He has developed a completely independent, unusually melodic sound that oscillates between humor and melancholy. Swiss-born clarinettist Puntin is a member of various ensembles (ambiq, Lamento Project, etc.) and winner of the WDR Jazz Prize, in addition to teaching at various universities. He has also worked on numerous radio drama productions ("Vermessung der Welt", "Sense and Sensibility", etc.) and theater productions ("Anatevka", "Tankstelle der Verdammten", etc.). Percussionist Christian Weber, also from Switzerland, has made a name for himself over the past 25 years, particularly in the field of free improvisation, and has shared the stage with numerous renowned musicians (Johannes Bauer, Vera Kappeler, Joachim Kühn, etc.).
The three musicians are currently keeping a low profile with further information regarding compositions and set - but the outstanding skills of the protagonists already speak for themselves.
