Music of the spheres. The cosmos in the music, the music in the cosmos. Whoever plays it also says something about the people in it. The fact that this ancient and medieval idea is now being revived in the astronomical and telluric explorations of the quartet "Perplexities on Mars" seems necessary given all the techno-ideological talk full of colonial fantasies that is currently flying at us from the super-rich.

Would Mars be a better world or is Earth the necessary but transient home? The four musicians stretch their musical imagination to answer these questions, improvising alternative worlds and discussing them in rich sonic arguments. Not at all perplexed or clueless, but determined and with a fine feeling for how the traditional could be combined with innovation. The spokesmen are primarily the tenor saxophonists Christopher Kunz and Max Hirth, but on their new album "Forever Home", there is room for everyone on Earth (or Mars?). Stephan Deller on double bass and Tom Friedrich on drums fill this space brilliantly on the eponymous title track.

Forever on an earth where music like this is played: good prospects. Even better are that this world music will soon be heard live, so don't be at a loss and go!
