Portico Quartet
TIP
That everything could be good again, promises already the headline, more precisely the little word "Quartet" (to translate from English roughly with the German word "Quartett"). The band Portico had dropped it from the name from 2014 to 2017, because they were only a trio. Now, however, a new fourth man is on board and with him the peculiar instrument called Hang is back, with which in turn the band's penchant for that peculiar ambient-minimal-dub-step-jazz with which the Portico Quartet has made itself comfortable between e.s.t., Radiohead, Cinematic Orchestra and Efterklang since the 2008 debut album (with the excellent name "Knee-deep in the North Sea").
Thirteen years after the band's beginnings on the streets of London's South Bank, Duncan Bellamy (dr, p, elec), Jack Wyllie (sax, p, elec, synth), Milo Fitzpatrick (kb, elec) and Keir Vine (hang, synth) have just released the second part of "Art in the Age of Automation".
And of course there are numerous other good reasons to travel to the Kulturarena in Jena this year, which once again offers extremely low ticket prices: from Kinga Glyk and Nils Wülker to Fiva with the Jazzrausch Bigband to Fink, Tocotronic and Curtis Harding.
