No-Jazz Tip of the Month
Some may have read it recently in one of the city's second most important press publications (LVZ and Kreuzer share this space behind the Jazzkalender): For some time now, Ilse's Erika has once again had a booker who is interested in offbeat live music away from the dance floor and also books it. Very good!
That doesn't mean jazz, but it does mean regular, more or less beautifully convoluted music from the realms of unpopular pop and rock music, i.e.: Oum Shatt, Das Paradies, Jumbo Jet, Welcome Inside The Brain, Die Liga der gewöhnlichen Gentlemen - and now in May: International Music.
The name alone! Practically unbloggable. The guitar-slaughtering bass-
Trio comes from the music metropolis of Essen and plays laconic, crumpled lofi chanson rock with a pinch of shoegaze and wonderfully twisted German lyrics.
It sounds a bit like The Düsseldorf Düsterboys with drums, or thereabouts. But since nobody knows them either, let's just say: Super band!
