SEATED CONCERT – With his *Requiem*, composed in 1993, Swedish composer Nils Lindberg created an extraordinary work that bridges musical worlds: the centuries-old texts of the Latin Mass for the Dead meet the timbres of a jazz big band, classical choral music, and influences from Swedish folk music.

Amid powerful big band passages, lyrical moments, and haunting choral and solo voices, an interpretation of the Requiem unfolds that is as unusual as it is moving. At the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Gewandhaus Choir and the Spielvereinigung Sued are jointly presenting this rarely heard work on stage. The concert is part ofthe City of Leipzig’s “Dreiklang” initiative, under which the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Leipzig Association for the Promotion of Music ( Jazzclub Leipzig e. V.), and Spielvereinigung Sued e. V. are collaborating artistically over a two-year period. The soloists are Jeannette Köhn and Tanja Pannier (soprano) and Matthias Knoche (baritone). Gregor Meyer serves as music director.

A collaboration between the Gewandhaus, Spielvereinigung Sued, and Jazzclub Leipzig.
Sponsored by the City of Leipzig.
