Hauschka
Experiments on the prepared piano
Volker Bertelmann, aka Hauschka, has named the tracks on his new album after so-called ghost towns, places that still exist but no longer have any function or are simply empty. Pripyat near Chernobyl is such a place: Houses, streets, squares - but no people. An empty space instead of a city, a place that makes the past and transience visible, that leaves the viewer alone with himself and his thoughts. The Düsseldorf composer and pianist has thus found an excellent mirror of his musical approach.
