What began on a small scale in 1991 has now, 35 years later, grown into one of the most important festivals for contemporary dance in the German-speaking world.
Now in its 36th edition and featuring 36 productions, this year’s euro-scene Leipzig is focusing on the Canadian province of Québec. Through five guest performances, the audience will gain insight into a fascinating dance scene that has long been regarded as a major source of inspiration on the international stage. In addition to Marie Chouinard, who has recently been celebrated for her innovative works, the festival team was able to secure productions by Manuel Roque, Alexandra “Spicey,” and Athena Lucie Assamba, among others, for this year’s edition.
In addition, there are other productions by international artists from Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Syria, Korea, Iran, Italy, and Switzerland—including three world premieres.
