Jazzclub Live: Flashback #29 Pat Metheny & Gary Burton
As if it were only yesterday: Sold-out opera house. Tour bus on the opera forecourt. That hair. This striped shirt and then the grip on the guitar and his playing - Pat Metheny at the 41st Leipziger Jazztage. Sometimes a sigh falls on the paper or a flashback from the sleeve. In the 29th of our series, Werner Neumann and Volker Heuken pick out their personal idols on their instruments and look at the joint collaboration of Gary Burton and Pat Metheny. Like several renowned guitarists before him, Metheny was called to join Burton's quartet at a young age. Since then, the two exceptional musicians have continued to collaborate and record together. Heuken, who is this year's Leipzig Jazz Nachwuchspreis winner with the trio Heuken/Stadtfeld/Heigenhuber, and jazz professor Neumann, along with Pepe Berns on double bass and Maximilian Stadtfeld on drums, will present a cross-section of this collaboration.
