Ed Paryka's all-stars of the hip scenes from, Amsterdam, Berlin, Chicago, Prague and Vienna: colorful arrangements by one of the world's best bass trombonists and bandleaders from Illinois.
Ed Partyka's Jazz Orchestra (EPJO for fans and those in a hurry) was launched in Berlin in 2007 - with a distinctive mix of "old stars" from European big bands and newcomers from the hip scenes in Berlin, Amsterdam, Vienna and Prague. Musicians from the USA, Germany, Austria, Holland, Switzerland and the Czech Republic come together here. With colorful arrangements and great enthusiasm Partyka stirs out of this mixture a melange as exciting as it is balanced.
EPJO or let's say Ed Partyka's Jazz Orchestra, to show that we are fans and not in a hurry, comes with the third album "Hits! Vol.1" to Leipzig. Singer and composer Julia Oschewsky is at the center of the action. According to Partyka, "a little fado and indie rock provide the right mix of original compositions, jazz and pop classics." Anyone expecting dark, depressive music filled with dissonance from him is wrong: Things are shaping up to be lighter, brighter and a bit more hopeful than before. But don't worry! What has remained is his love for the earthy warm brass sound and the subtle rather quiet clarinets.
