The Unbalance feat. Taiko Saito

Where order ends, imbalance begins: Free jazz as a rotating state of emergency.
An imbalance, as the dictionary tells us, is an "asymmetrical distribution of the masses of a rotating body". But easy to say is hard to understand. If you don't have a degree in physics, you can approach the matter using experimental methods instead: attending a concert by the free jazz band of the same name.
And indeed: its rotating body of sound has about as much to do with symmetry and well-tempered harmony as AI-generated pop music has to do with musical avant-garde. Because when the multi-award-winning Christopher Kunz on saxophone and his congenial colleague Florian Fischer on drums start playing together, no stone is left unturned. Continuity lines are barely discernible, everything is in a torrential flow. And what is waiting behind the next bend is always unpredictable.
During the concert, Die Unwucht will be accompanied by the Japanese composer and vibraphonist Taiko Saitō. Based in Berlin since the late 1990s, she has earned a reputation as an outstanding virtuoso and free improviser over the years - as evidenced not least by her being awarded the German Jazz Prize last year.
Together in this unique line-up, the trio creates a set full of expressionistic sound colors, whose arc of suspense grows to unimagined heights as time progresses.
