The Theme of the Anniversary

We asked ourselves: How can we creatively tell the story of 50 years of the Leipzig Jazz Festival?
Doing justice to the festival’s 50-year history, the diversity of the genre, and the diversity of the organization is a very special challenge. So in this exciting year, the festival is not featuring a single key visual, as is customary, but rather a series of three different designs.
As we lose ourselves completely in the sound and atmosphere under the club’s subdued lighting, it is the musicians’ silhouettes that remain visible. This magical moment is at the heart of this year’s series of motifs, which doesn’t shy away from offering a charming glimpse into the traditional symbolism of local festive culture. With the minimalist color palette, we also pay homage to the poster designs from the turn of the millennium—clear forms, dynamic gestures, and strong contrasts. We’re delighted to have once again collaborated withStefan Ibrahimon this year’s concepts; as an illustrator, he has been shaping the visual language and recognizability of the Leipzig Jazz Days for many years now.
With this series of images, we’re kicking off the visual aspect of the anniversary festival and look forward with great anticipation to celebrating50 years ofthe Leipzig Jazz Days together.
