"Deep harmony arrangements and clacking rhythm foundations"
The Hamburg siblings make music between indie and house, between acoustic and electronic, between Björk and Massive Attack...
Blatantly electrifying. Significantly inspired by Detroit deep house, the producer duo bundles the latest club currents from New York, Chicago, Berlin and Paris and develops their uniquely melodic and compact sound from them.
Volker Bräutigam (organ, compositions, arrangements), Sabine Helmbold (vocals), Johannes Moritz (saxophone), Ensemble Nobiles (choir) - church music meets jazz meets new music. Sophisticated arrangements, impressive original compositions and church music rarities from all eras.
Niklas Kraft (saxophone), Florian Kästner (concert grand piano, Rhodes), Matthias Eichhorn (bass), Stan Neufeld (drums) - young jazz with a lot of imagination and without worries.
Jens "Bügge" Bürger (saxophone), Lars Kutschke (guitar), Andreas Gundlach (keyboards), Tom Götze (bass), Sven Helbig (drums) - top-class synth funk by Miles Davis in a new guise. The Dresden band is living proof: Miles' music does not age.
Joe Acheson (bass, samples), Poppy Ackroyd (keyboards, violin), Tim Lane (drums, percussion), Jamie Graham (drums) - Exciting arcs of tension with a marrow-shaking beauty! Double drums, fat bass lines and electronic sounds. Attention, suction effect!
Frederik Köster (trumpet) . Martin Auer (trumpet), Florian Trübsbach (saxophone), Jan Eschke (piano), Andreas Kurz (bass), Bastian Jütte (drums) - Miles Davis masterpiece in Auer's style - haunting and yet unashamedly light.
Adam Holzman (keyboards), Aaron Heick (saxophone), Jane Getter (guitar), Freddy Cash (bass), Abe Fogle (drums) - Hard-hitting funk jazz from Adam Holzman, ex-keyboardist and musical director of the Miles Davis Group.
Change of program!
Due to Palle Mikkelborg's illness, the concert must unfortunately be cancelled. The plan was to perform a commissioned composition written by Terje Rypdal (guitar) with Palle Mikkelborg (trumpet, keyboards), Marius Rypdal (sampling), Pepe Berns (double bass) and a string trio. Instead, Pepe Berns (bass), Werner Neumann (git) and Heinrich Köbberling (drums) present a Mahler suite composed at short notice especially for this evening.
Kristiina Tuomi (vocals), Susanne Folk (saxophone), Roland Fidezius (double bass), Carsten Daerr (concert grand piano) - Irritatingly seductive chansons inspired by Gustav Mahler's "Songs of a Journeyman".
Lars Danielsson (double bass, cello), Yaron Herman (concert grand), Magnus Öström (drums). With a stroke of his bow, Lars Danielsson combines late romanticism and jazz as if the two had always belonged together.
Henrik Walsdorff (alto saxophone), Rudi Mahall (bass clarinet), Jan Roder (double bass), Oliver Steidle (drums) - Investigations into Radikal-Impros - a total operation of the special commando from the capital.
Juri Tetzlaff (vocals, moderation), Jorinde Jelen (vocals, moderation), Bastian Ruppert (guitar, trombone), Volker Dahms (saxophone, flute), Christian Sievert (double bass), Johannes Sens (drums, percussion) - Together with Jorinde Jelen and Juri Tetzlaff (KiKa) they go on a musical trip around the world - from Argentina to the wild animals of Africa, from America to the North Pole. With them in large suitcases: many jazzy song stories and musical souvenirs.
Brad Mehldau on the concert grand piano: unparalleled grandiose virtuosity.
Johannes Enders (tenor saxophone), Gertrud Schilde (violin), Markus Muench (violin), Tobias Weber (viola), Mathis Mayr (violoncello), Jost H. Hecker (violoncello), Juan S. Ruiz (double bass), Zoro Babel (percussion), Salewski (percussion, kalimba), Carl Oesterhelt (djembe, rattles, kalimba) - Mysterious jungle rhythms paired with neo-classical string sounds and dark saxophone playing. Enders and Oesterhelt take you into a beguiling and wicked cosmos of sound.
Malia (vocals), Laurent Seirès (bass), Jean-Daniel Botta (drums), Alexandre Saade (concert grand) - Charismatic soul with the magic and vocal power of a Billie Holiday - goosebumps guaranteed.
On the occasion of the 80th birthday of Krzysztof Komeda (1931-1969)
in the context of the 35th Leipzig Jazz Days and the Intercultural Weeks Leipzig.
Kuba Kapsa (piano, composition), Bartek Kapsa (drums), Wojtek Jachna (trumpet), Tomek Glazik (saxophone), Kamil Pater (guitar), Patryk Weclawek (double bass) - High-energy groove jazz inspired by experimental rock and film music.
Michael Wollny (concert grand), Ib Hausmann (clarinet), Guy Sternberg (electronics) . Between remorse, pain and longing - with uncompromising intensity and melancholic minimalism Wollny's trio approaches Gustav Mahler's "Totenklage".
