LET'S TALK ABOUT JAZZ, BABY
"2018 is a good year so far. I got a dispo!", Sophie Passmann recently revealed to her friend and engraver Christian Meyer. And who knows, maybe the year will even bring the rest of us a federal government....
But let's not get too cocky right away - and be content with a few nice concerts in February for now. That's already something! Drummer Max Stadtfeld opens with his Schlappuskonzert (or how do you say, Stax?) on Feb. 5 in the naTo, vibraphonist Volker Heuken invites with his "Portugalsuite" and his sextet on Feb. 8 in the Telegraph. There, the young pianist Robbi Nakayama will also play with his trio (Feb. 15). At the UT Connewitz we are guests again on 21.2. - with Philipp Rumsch and his twelve-piece ensemble. The band is on a record release tour for their first album, which will be released by one of our favorite labels: Denovali.
And if our concerts are not enough for you, you can go to Kurt Weill in Dessau or jump into the Kulturnhalle in Probstheida. Xenophobia Quartett and Zwitschermaschine are two very interesting young bands playing there this month. In addition, Yves Theiler's Trio and Luise Volkmann's Été Large at Horns, the JJO Saxony with Malte Schiller twice in the surrounding area (Colditz and Zwenkau). Not bad. And also popwise it's more pop than moderate with Wandl, Algiers and Dillon. And we haven't even talked about the reunion of Urlaub in Polen or the "Unter meinem Bett" concert for young and old!
