Let's talk about jazz... and traveling

Jazz pianist Jonas Timm, who is based in Leipzig and Berlin, also travels a lot and his new live program has the Spanish title "Viajes", which means "journeys". An obvious choice if you commute back and forth between the trade fair city and the capital, you might think. In fact, however, the title refers primarily to the exchange between the American continents: On the one hand, the trio is influenced by classic US jazz, but also by the diverse dances and songs of Central and South America - such as condombe and merengue.
Anyone wondering what a dialog between the two musical worlds might sound like should mark June 27th in their diary: That's when Timm and his fantastic trio will present their new program as part of the "Jazzclub Live Special" series at UT Connewitz. Speaking of new programs: the HMT Big Band has also developed a new program, which they will present the following evening, June 28, at the same venue and in the same setting. Tickets for both concerts are now available in advance, both individually and at a reduced price in a double pack.
For those who, despite all the advantages of summery Leipzig, are drawn to faraway places in the near future, we would like to take this opportunity to recommend trips to Moers, Timmendorfer Strand or South Tyrol. Sounds a bit random? But it's not: because with the moers festival, Jazzbaltica and the South Tyrol Jazz Festival Alto Adige, three of the most exciting jazz festivals this year are taking place in June. Bon voyage!
See you soon,
