Leipzig Opera was founded in 1963 as the third civic music theater in Europe after Venice and Hamburg, and has been the main venue for the Leipzig Jazz Days since 1991. 
Among others played here: John Scofield, Dave Holland, Brad Mehldau, Carla Bley, Joshua Redman, Norma Winstone, Adam Holzman, Terje Rypdal, Dave Liebman, Sophie Hunger, Baby Sommer & Till Brönner, Steve Coleman, Avishai Cohen, Bill Frisell, Peter Brötzmann, John Abercrombie, Rolf & Joachim Kühn, Eric Truffaz, Nils Petter Molvær, Ornette Coleman, Albert Mangelsdorff, Jack DeJohnette and many more.
