Before this power plant was about art, streetcars were supplied with electricity from here from 1900. From 1964, it was converted into a combined heat and power plant as part of the VEB Energiekombinat Leipzig. Already decommissioned in 1992, the NPP has been used as a venue for art exhibitions, theater, concerts, etc. since 2015.

The Leipzig Jazz Days made its first guest appearance here in 2017 with the Bertram Burkert Quartet and Adam Pierończyk & Miroslav Vitouš. In 2018, we were able to present the young Munich band Fazer as well as pianist Michael Wollny's "Goldberg Tangenten" here. This year, the hall will be sounded by BMW World Jazz Award winner Maciej Obara with his quartet as well as the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra.
