Before this power plant was about art, streetcars were supplied with electricity from here from 1900. From 1964, it was converted into a combined heat and power plant as part of the VEB Energiekombinat Leipzig. Already decommissioned in 1992, the NPP has been used as a venue for art exhibitions, theater, concerts, etc. since 2015.

Leipziger Jazztage made its debut here in 2017 with the Bertram Burkert Quartet and Adam Pierończyk & Miroslav Vitouš. In 2018, we were able to present the young Munich-based band Fazer as well as pianist Michael Wollny’s “Goldberg Tangenten” here. This year, BMW Welt Jazz Award winner Maciej Obara will bring the hall to life with his quartet and the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra.
