Four solo concerts are the focus of this year's MusikZeit on June 8 and 9. Our mini-festival has been held annually since 1991 and this time presents guitar icon Ralph Towner, vocal acrobat Maike Lindemann, the current Leipzig Jazz Young Talent Award winner Robert Lucaciu on double bass and another act in exclusive solo concerts, without a band, without additives, completely pure: "Only you alone". Advance sales for the concerts will start in April at Culton Tickets, where the festival pass for both days will also be available.
The solo has had a wide variety of meanings in jazz from the very beginning - from Dixieland and swing to cool and free jazz to the present day - from the (un)accompanied playing of a single musician to the instrumentation of only one instrument to the interpretation of a piece by a featured soloist. In "Only You" we are not interested in the interplay of solo and ensemble, but in the pure individual expression of each artist. We want to show solo, unaccompanied playing as the dialogue that takes place exclusively between musician and audience. There is no more intimate way to experience musicians.
