Completely without outdoor gear and hiking poles, "Nordic Walking" is on the program of MusikZeit from June 27 to 29, 2013. In 2013, the small festival of the Jazzclub Leipzig dares to take a look at the "epicenter of European jazz": Norway. The jazz scene of the Scandinavian country, where jazz is understood as part of the national culture, is in focus with three concerts. After the festival has already devoted itself to the Dutch, British or Swiss jazz scene in the past, among others, the MusikZeit is thus heading north in 2013 - well dressed and not on a stick.
The MusikZeit 2013 will be opened on June 27 by Karl Ivar Refseth. At the Telegraph live club, the vibraphonist, who is part of the live band of indie rockers The Notwist, among others, will create beautiful warmth, withdrawn music that is not afraid of silence.
Eivind Aarset will show why he is considered one of the most exciting sound explorers of the jazz underground on June 28 at UT Connewitz: Together with Jan Bang, he will drive guitar, electronic effects and live sampling to unheard-of sounds and present "Dream Logic". Aarset, who started out in heavy metal, has appeared on albums by Ray Charles, Ute Lemper, Cher, Ketil Bjørnstad, Nils Petter Molvær and Bugge Wesseltoft.
Finally, on June 29, Kristoffer Lo will present his new album "Anomie" at Galerie KUB. With only his tuba and effect devices, he creates a soundscape that transports the audience to the middle of the sea - while a storm looms on the horizon.
The MusikZeit is supported by the Cultural Office of the City of Leipzig and the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony. We would also like to thank the BMW Leipzig branch and Mini, official partners of MusikZeit.
