There are lyrics and there are lyrics. Jelena Kuljić's are of the second kind, the kind that is not only written, but that pushes onto the stage, to the microphone and where guitars and drums are allowed to write between the lines and above and below. Keyword: "Jazz & Poetry."
Kuljić is a poet, but she is also an actress and singer, one could simply say: an event and always. Punk, psychedelic jazz, surrealism, print and - the present (not to be confused with everyday life). And the present, that has just turned a small Mediterranean island into a symbolic place of flight and death.
This "Lampedusa Lullaby" is guaranteed not to lull anyone to sleep. Jelena Kuljić and her band KUU! will make sure of that. To which, by the way, belong the gentlemen Kalle Kalima, Frank Möbus and Christian Lillinger. Some may know them.
