The brittle aesthetics of asphalt-grey city dirt often only reveal themselves in the moth-eaten light of night and often only to those who, driven by the absence of sleep, roam the darkness of the streets. Alfa Mist, who grew up in East Ham London, belongs to this group of people. The producer and beat-maker collects impressions at night and processes his ideas into pieces that effortlessly cross hip-hop, soul, jazz and flirt with breakbeat and grime.
"Antiphon" is the name Alfa Mist has given to his 2017 debut album, and the chosen title speaks for itself: all the tracks give the impression that everyone involved is engaged in a lively conversation, in which one sometimes loses oneself dissolutely and almost whispering moves closer to each other again, while around you the night falls unnoticed.
