Musically at home in modern jazz, the young Munich trio RENNER around the two brothers Moritz and Valentin as well as bassist Nils Kugelmann relies on an initially unusual, because rarely encountered line-up: trombone, bass and drums.

On closer inspection, however, the lack of a harmony instrument proves to be the band's big ace up its sleeve: this results in expansive sound spaces that the three musicians know how to use to their advantage. And so, despite their awareness of tradition, the three musicians occasionally touch on elements of funk, bebop, hip hop or pop. The band has repeatedly demonstrated its potential in the context of major festivals, including at the Leipzig Jazz Days in 2023. Anyone who attended the concert back then may not be surprised that even Bayerischer Rundfunk spoke of a sound that was "put together in perfect beauty".
