Narr/Steidle - Ghost Ants (Album of the Month 11/25)

A thousand little critters crawl on your body - but only in your head: Ghost Ants. Today, digital information comes at us from here, there, over there and over there. This information overload is mirrored and processed on Steffi Narr and Oliver Steidle's new album.

In this project, the two established names of the free improvisation scene offer an orchestrated abundance of electronic noises and unsteady rhythms. But not all the sounds flood the ears: songs with the apt titles "I need Spa" and "Before Dawn" provide a time-out - in them the relaxing atmosphere pulsates and creaks without any noisy force. 

However, you don't get to rest, because the final song "Busy Waltz" takes up the highlights of the album again and mixes and alienates them into a big, final crescendo that can only be described approximately with the term catharsis. So instead of digital detox, we recommend listening to this album - because free improvisation ultimately has a liberating effect!
