Urban Base Jam
Twice a month, the Urban Base Jam in Berlin, that well known den of hippness and unlimited possibilities, attracts musicians and willing listeners to the Panke. What happens there is nothing less than a neo-soul/funk/hip-hop/jazz thing with a tremendous pull. Now, on the initiative of drummer Hans Otto, who is also involved in the Berlin edition, the bustling project is coming to the local Noch Besser Leben. Joining them is U.S. pianist Joel Holmes, who has already toured with trumpeter Roy Hargrove, who died in 2018, and is currently part of saxophonist Javon Jackson's quartet. At 8:30 p.m., an opening band will kick off the evening. An hour later, the session, scheduled until 11:00 p.m., begins.
