Spielvereinigung Sued feat. Kaspar Ewald
TIP
Kaspar Ewald can hardly be classified as a composer. Born in 1969, he studied New Music in Basel, but also attended jazz school there and courses with film music luminary Ennio Morricone, later studying at the Electronic Studio of the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin. Today, the teacher at the Musikhochschule Zürich writes mainly pieces for Exorbitantes Kabinett, his large formation composed of jazz and classical musicians. In his compositions he deals with polymetric phenomena, citing Igor Stravinsky and James Brown as his most important influences. And so it sounds equally avant-garde and groovy.
With the Spielvereinigung Sued he will perform his compositions for the first time outside Swiss climes. For this, the Leipzig gentlemen and a lady have dressed up. In addition, the big band (with singer Matthias Knoche) will be joined on this evening by classical clarinetist Felicitas Ressel and horn player Juri de Marco.
