The repertoire of the "MSL BigBand" includes instrumental and vocal arrangements of musical masterpieces by Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Glenn Miller, but also cult compositions by living legends such as Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea or Stevie Wonder. In addition, unforgettable titles by Joe Zawinul, Dizzy Gillespie or Earth, Wind & Fire can be heard - arranged by the greats of the guild, such as Sammy Nestico, Jerry Nowak or Paul Jennings.
The "MSL BigBand" consists of young jazz musicians from the Leipzig Music School "Johann Sebastian Bach". Under the direction of its founder, the well-known jazz trumpeter Hubertus Böhm, it won the state competition of the German Music Council for jazz orchestras in the state of Saxony in 2003.
