Polish jazz developed a broad impact that was unique in Eastern Europe, symbolizing individuality and a self-determined life. Even among former GDR citizens, the Polish jazz scene was considered inspiring - and not only in musical terms. The AG Jazzmeile, together with the Plateaux Foundation, the Leipzig branch of the Polish Institute Berlin and the Foundation for German-Polish Cooperation, now invites you to a cinematic-musical journey through time into the past and into the future. Cinematic? Yes, jazz and film have always had a fruitful symbiosis in Poland. Jazz musicians recorded soundtracks, directors made films about musicians and the latter sometimes appeared in films as actors. The films shown are "Krzysztof Komeda - A soundtrack for a life" ( D 2010, German OF), "Ręce do góry / Hands up" (PL 1967/1981, OmeU) and "Mój rower / My Father's Bike" (PL 2012, OmeU). In addition to discussions and readings (with Ingo Schulze and Christoph Dieckmann, among others), concerts will of course be the focus of the program: among others. with the young Szymon Łukowski Quintet from the jazz scene of Gdańsk and Bydgoszcz, with the fusion and nu-jazz formation Jazzpospolita, the "Komeda heir" Adam Pierończyk (saxophone solo concert), with the quintet of Pink Freud bassist Wojtek Mazolewski, with Brüdaer feat. Nastja, who take a journey across the Balkans inspired by Edgar Allan Poe, and pianist Paweł Kaczmarczyk, who is preparing to join the league of a Leszek Możdżer or Marcin Wasilewski.
