Originally from South Carolina, 73-year-old James Blood Ulmer has lived in New York since 1971. He worked side by side with jazz musician Ornette Coleman for many years. Beginning in 1980, he led his own trio based on Coleman's harmolodic concept. In recent years, the former Coleman partner has clearly turned back to his roots, the blues. Now Ulmer returns to the stages of Europe with the reunion of his trio Odyssey, known from the 90s, extended with the blues and jazz lady Queen Esther. With the typical gruff guitar sound he combines earthy, deeply felt blues with funk and black rock.
