campus inter|national #66: Jazz with the Achim Jaroschek Trio

They were among the musical highlights of last year's jazz festival in Dresden:
Oberhausen pianist Achim Jaroschek and his Dutch "neighbor" and friend Jasper van't Hof. Parallel to this collaboration, Achim Jaroschek has now put together his own trio - with Stefan Neldner, the bassist of the current Jasper van't Hof Quartet, and Christopher Hafer on drums. Charles Mingus saw in the piano "a drum set with plenty of 80 keys." Achim Jaroschek began his musical path as a drummer, and so it is not surprising that his playing is distinctly rhythmically accentuated, harmonically-melodically anchored in the field of tension between classical music, rock and jazz. Mozart, Bach and Beethoven can be found right next to Mingus, Tyner or Kühn, grooving together to form something new and completely original.
