Basti Wehle

There's an old saying that goes, "You can't make sparrows fledge." But now several of them are obviously ready - and play their graduation concerts:
Saxophonist Basti Wehle (PLOT, Pony, SpVgg, among others) kicks things off with his graduation concert at Horns. At his side an illustrious round of the young Leipzig scene: Mark Weschenfelder, Bertram Burkert, Robert Lucaciu and Philipp Scholz.
"Laura swings lightly" - this could be the motto for the diploma concert of singer Laura Wasniewski. For friends of Cole Porter, Victor Young and George Gershwin, she has formed a band with Jonas Timm, Steven Boreham and Johannes Bode.
June 16 will probably go down in the history books as Super Jazz Tuesday: Werner Neumann, Matze Eichhorn and Max Stadtfeld will be on stage at the Telegraph, while alto saxophonist Philipp Sebening and his band Killerfuchs (among others, at the Jazz Nachwuchsfestival 2014) invite you to the final concert at Horns. In the late evening, Niklas Kraft's bachelor concert will take place at the UT. He will attempt to transfer concepts of free and electronic music to a larger, purely acoustic ensemble (6 wind players and 2 drummers). It's back to the Horns at the end of the month with Yoann Thicé's undergraduate concert. There, the German-French guitarist will review five years of Leipzig with his trio and quintet.
