11th Women-in-Jazz Festival (23.4.-1.5.)
In its eleventh edition, the festival is entitled "Atlantic Crossing" and focuses on female jazz musicians from North America and Northern Europe: singers such as Holly Cole, Ellen Andrea Wang or Julia Biel as well as instrumentalists such as Ingrid Jensen, Geri Allen or Karin Hammar come to the Saale from the USA, Canada, Norway, Great Britain and Sweden. The festival project "Atlantic Crossing" will be presented on three major concert evenings at the Halle Opera House. In addition, the festival takes a look back. With Irène Schweizer and Grammy winner Patti Austin, two exceptional female jazz musicians are invited who have had a strong influence on jazz in the past decades. There is no need to find out more about the opening concert - it is already sold out. But the final concert is all the more worthwhile, because for the first time there will be a dance project with the Armstrong Jazz Dance Company. In addition, there will be a supporting program with a jazz stamp (!) and photo exhibition, and much more.
Double Concert Atlantic Crossing II:
Karin Hammar (tb), Max Schultz (g), Niklas Fernqvist (b) and Fredrik Rundqvist (dr)
Ingrid Jensen (tp), Christine Jensen (sax), Maggi Olin (p), Phil Donkin (b) and Eva Klesse (dr)
