25th National Jazz Young Talent Festival (31.3.-2.4.)
TIP
Initiated in 1992 by Moritzbastei and Jazzclub Leipzig, the festival now presents young, up-and-coming jazz acts from all over Germany for the 25th time. In his second year as artistic director, Steffen Wilde from the Tonne in Dresden has selected eleven bands from over 50 applications: four from Berlin, two each from Leipzig and Dresden, and one each from Weimar, Cologne and Rostock. Surprisingly, not one piano trio is among them.
On 1.4. three quartets will be on stage: Zola Run (exactly, with Zola Mennenöh, who recently opened our MusikZeit ) and Flying Cakes from Berlin, plus Das Bessere Leben and the Brasil Acoustic Quintet from Elbflorenz.
Das Bessere Leben with Mathis Nicolaus (p), Adam Gräbner (sax, cl), Jonas Gerigk (b) and Claas Lausen (dr) - Zola Run with Zola Mennenöh (voc, comp), Daniel Bödvarsson (g), Igor Spallati (kb) and Moritz Baumgärtner (dr) - Brasil Acoustic Quintet with Stephan Pankow (g), Richard Ebert (fl), Peter Kirsch (p), Christoph Hutter (kb) and Claas Lausen (dr) - Flying Cakes with Nils Wrasse (sax), Benjamin Geyer (p), Thomas Kolarczyk (kb) and Philip Dornbusch (dr)
