23rd National Jazz Young Talent Festival
62 bands applied this year - more than ever before. Bert Noglik and Frank Heinecke have selected eleven bands from the 'next generation in jazz'. Among them are three that have already made a name for themselves in Leipzig on the stages of HMT, Jazzclub and Jazzkollektiv: the four-piece Trio.Diktion, which listens to romanticism, the saxophone trio Killerfuchs and the Yoann Thicé Quintet around its mastermind franco-allemand. Three bands are also coming from Dresden: a soulful one (Janda), a rocking one (Kite) and one that takes up bebop and cool jazz (Richard Ebert Quartet). Melancholia and the string(!) trio DuckTapeTicket will travel from Cologne. They are joined by the tongue-in-cheek bodosapiens from Essen, Weimar's Nachtfarben, who use voice not for lyrics but as an instrument, and The BassTubation from Darmstadt.
