It's that time again! Every two years, the University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" organizes a two-day festival with an educational approach.

The jazz/popular music department invites internationally renowned artists who will work with the students in a three-day workshop to develop programs that will then be performed on the two festival evenings. "Art-rock-electro-pop" big band composer, guitarist and singer Monika Roscher will rehearse her music with the HMT Big Band. Clarinetist and composer Claudio Puntin will perform his specially composed large-scale work for vocals, woodwinds*, strings* and jazz ensemble. Vibraphonist and composer Stefan Bauer will also present a larger ensemble for which he will bring specially developed compositions. Trumpeter Markus Stockhausen realizes his improvisational visions in an octet. Pianist Vladyslav Sendecki brings compositions for septet to Leipzig. The festival will open on the first evening with the winners of the Central German Jazz Prize 2020 (Vincent Meissner Trio) and 2022 (Simon Lucaciu Trio). The prize was offered for the second time by the universities in Weimar, Dresden and Leipzig.
