Festival INTERZONE 2021

Without audience, but still. The INTERZONE Festival 2021 organized by LeipJAZZig e.V., will take place. From April 22-24, 5 concerts with Leipzig musicians* will be recorded in the Kulturnhalle and then made available for listening on the website of the association.

The young musicians of RADIAL ENGINE met in 2013 while studying at the Dresden University of Music. For their joint band, Fabian Adams (tenor saxophone), Tobias Fröhlich (double bass) and Jan-Einar Groh (drums) provide equal parts compositional and improvisational impetus. They bring all their playful risk-taking and passion together for the benefit of a jointly established sound. Radiolux creates new spaces of imagination. Carried by Inka Perl's real-time animations, Fabian Niermann's spherical saxophone sounds, Marek Brandt's electronic sounds and complemented by the exciting percussion play Hans Arnoldwho was invited as a guest musician for this performance. Drummer Wolfram Dix and Heiner Reinhardt on the bass clarinet had imagined their performance somewhat differently. Planned collaborations failed due to finding a common date, but the two musicians are not discouraged by this. As a duo they like it sharp-edged and free. v. Buttlar / Kunz / Hermann / Deller move mercilessly between music and noise. The play with chaos and structure leads to concentrated excess. The free improvisation of the quartet is the constant search for new forms of a common expression. Michi Breitenbach's Workshop for Freedom is already coming together for the seventh time. Over the years, the line-up changed to share, always willing to engage with each other in new ways, exploring new compositional approaches together and staying musically curious with each other in free sessions.
