Benedikt Reising "A Million O Clock"

A Million O Clock sounds like longing, hope, intimacy, rawness and joy all at the same time. Inspired by South African jazz music, the musicians develop their own world of sound, consisting of interwoven melodies that reflect their harmony with each other.

Thandi Ntuli, Shane Cooper and Benedikt Reising met for the first time in Johannesburg. After sessions in various places, such as the Bantu Kitchen in Brixton, a forest in South Tyrol and the Tinguely Museum in Basel, they found their soulmate in Paul Amereller. Together in search of authentic sound, A Million O Clock are now finally releasing their first eponymous debut album on the Bernese label ANUK and are making a stop on their tour at the naTo stage in Leipzig.

Incidentally, the name A Million O Clock came about quite by chance, during a walk around Bern Minster. Benedikt Reising remembers how Shane Cooper reacted to the boisterous ringing of the bells: "What time is it? A Million O Clock?"
