This project begins with a central promise that sends out a powerful signal in an increasingly fragmented world: "Anw Be Yonbolo" - we stand together.
A powerful statement from two influential figures whose artistic dialogue, even after years of collaboration, continues to call for a continuation. Years ago, Malian singer Naïny Diabaté and French pianist Eve Risser began blending their different stylistic backgrounds with their program “Kogoba Basigui,” featuring a 15-piece band. With their new project, they will now open the 49th edition of the “ Leipziger Jazztage .”
Less is more, says an old adage that has often been used in advertising and cheap wall calendars. "Anw Be Yonbolo" frees it from the dust and mustiness of the past and thus reveals the essentials: with intimate, always touching sound textures that - once caught - will resonate with us for a long time to come.
