The exceptional pianist from Brooklyn was once part of Stan Getz's band with Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette, and later played again and again with Dave Liebmann, John Abercrombie, Chet Baker and John Scofield or his band Quest. Today he turns 67 - which is celebrated with one or the other surprise in the city where he has been professor of jazz piano since 2000.
