The Cologne formation around bassist Oliver Lutz just released their first album "Signal" on the Swiss label UNIT Records. The band's multi-award-winning pianist Pablo Held played a celebrated Jazztage concert at Schaubühne Lindenfels in 2012. The music of the Oliver Lutz Quartet is characterized by great joy in melodies and unagitated storytelling. You can hear Weather Report or Herbie Hancock's Headhunters shimmering through in Lutz's compositions and enjoy that - but you expressly don't have to. The bassist makes it quite easy for the audience to like his music even without much knowledge of jazz.
