Ever experienced a double bass solo concert? Or even with bass clarinet only? Or an icon on guitar, who usually only plays the big halls, in an intimate solo club concert? And how about a ravishing voice that does all kinds of looping? This year's MusikZeit offers all of that. This time, the mini-festival puts the spotlight on the solo concert. Guitar icon Ralph Towner, vocal acrobat Maike Lindemann, the current Leipzig Jazz Young Talent Award winner Robert Lucaciu on double bass and Gewandhaus bass clarinettist Volker Hemken will play four exclusive solo concerts, without a band, without additives, completely pure: "Only you alone".
Guitarist Ralph Towner has recorded over 30 records with Oregon, played with Keith Jarrett, Wayne Shorter, Egberto Gismonti, Jan Garbarek, Gary Burton, John Abercrombie, Gary Peacock, Jack DeJohnette, Elvin Jones... He comes to Leipzig with his brand new ECM solo album "My Foolish Heart". On the same evening, singer Maike Lindemann lets her voice talk to itself through a loop station. Her solo project likiam plays with improvisation and arrangements, jazz and soul.
