The latest project of Cologne drummer Jonas Burgwinkel, the piano trio Medusa Beats, is announced as a band with a "monster line-up". And indeed, with Benoît Delbecq from Paris on piano and synthesizer and Swedish Berliner Petter Eldh on bass, Burgwinkel has assembled a band of international stature. Just ask Lee Konitz, Django Bates, Evan Parker, Chris Potter, John Scofield, Marc Ducret, Jim Black, Mark Turner, John Taylor, Uri Caine or Joachim Kühn what they think of their former fellow musicians Burgwinkel, Delbecq and Eldh. With Medusa Beats, one often has the impression that Jonas Burgwinkel brings the melodies and chords into the interplay.
