Martin Schulte Quartet

Record release tour of the Cologne guitarist on Saturday, 23.1. half past eight at the Telegraph.
With his guitar playing Martin Schulte moves virtuously in the interfaces of modern jazz, pop, rock and funk. The Cologne native's third album is called "Walking Distance," but that doesn't stop him from crossing those boundaries and touring the country extensively. His pieces sometimes begin like sensitive ballads, only to lead somewhere completely different between energetic swinging modern jazz with exploding improvisations and modern oddmeter structures. After studying jazz guitar in Cologne, Schulte took lessons from John Abercrombie, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Wayne Krantz, John Taylor and Peter Bernstein, among others, and since 2012 he has been teaching himself at the Hochschule für Musik, Saar.
Martin Schulte (g, comp), Peter Ehwald (sax), Matthias Akeo Nowak (b) and Mirek Pyschny (dr).
