Jazzclub : Marina Schlagintweit Large Ensemble
Prices
With her large ensemble, Marina Schlagintweit opens up a soundscape that arouses curiosity and captivates the listener.
The pianist and composer, who was awarded the Jutta Hipp Prize by the Saxony Jazz Association, deliberately assembled the nine-piece ensemble from strong musical personalities. The result is a collective that brings her narrative scores to life with openness, passion, and courage.
The unconventional instrumentation of alto flute, violin, bass clarinet, trumpet, trombone, and live electronics meets a pulsating rhythm section. Electronics function as a full-fledged instrument, as a dramaturgical force. Schlagintweit's music juggles its possibilities with relish, creating dynamic architectures marked by wit and surprise. Each composition has its own DNA, from which a characteristic form unfolds.
Inspired by New Music, Bartók, Mingus, and Maria Schneider, a sound develops that does not mark boundaries but questions them. A concert by the Marina Schlagintweit Large Ensemble is thus less a finished work than an open process: an invitation to listen attentively and discover together. (Text: Michaela Brosi)
