For the fifth edition of his series, guitarist Werner Neumann has invited his colleague at the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre, Professor Pepe Berns. Born in 1966, the bassist began his musical education in Cologne and continued it in Los Angeles and New York, among others with Harvie Swartz and Maria Schneider. From the mid-nineties on, he completed composition and arrangement studies in Berlin. Numerous releases with his quintet "Pepe Berns Network" have been produced over the years. Berns has been a sideman with Chris Potter, Gary Burton and worked with Michael Wollny, Jamey Haddad, Werner Neumann and Till Brönner. The format "Little Heroes" leaves room for anecdotes from the lives of the musicians, descriptions of their musical development and their favorite pieces, which are performed together and in a cozy atmosphere.
